My Art Is Part Of The Journey
Finding Inspiration in Every Color, Line, Shape, and Shadows.
As a human being that grew up between Colombia and the United States, I have had many experiences that have made me who I am. Aside from helping others, there are moments that we have to retrieve, give a little self love, and do what gives us a break from work, life, and family. It is just me with my canvas, my paints and allowing for the “colores” to combine and bring out people I may have met or may never meet. To bring a message that I learn from when I finish it and observe it. Here are a couple that tell a story:
“El Ciudadano Tendrá Más Que Su Propia Esperanza”
Oil on Canvas. Circa 1999.
My formative years from eleven years of age to the age of nineteen were spent in Colombia. In a time where car bombs were our “new normal” All I recall from this painting is that even when things are so dim,
we as citizens can bring new hope through our own internal hope.
In the painting you see my mother with long hair, just as she arrived as an immigrant in the 60's to the United States. Her story is part of mine, and makes me remember that we can never forget where we come from, our language, or our culture, no matter where we place our roots.

We all know that for many, our dog is our first child before these little beings come into our life.
Frida, our dog, is there, acknowledging the sadness that she will no longer be on the top of our “pack”. Still noble,
and prepared to give her love for them too.

This painting was done right before our lives changed.
Maybe it came to me to bring hope to our home in such a difficult time. Reminding us that we can always have hope that things will be okay.
COVID, Oil on Canvas, 2020
WHATEVER YOU WOULD Like It To Be
“Whatever you would like it to be.” 2010
This is how I call this painting I did in 2010 like this because everyone sees something different. From a man from the BeeGees to modern Jesus Christ. I painted and these guys came out. Not sure who they are. Maybe you do.
I AM SPEAKING
OIL ON CANVAS, 2021.
“I am speaking” Oil on Canvas 2021.
For all the women before us and now who maybe never have been so brave to do it, and for our future generations to never forget, it is never too late to say: ¡Estoy Hablando! I am speaking! This is a woman who represents all of us. Her hair is in different hues, colors, and textures representing female humanity. Her crown always keeps her dignity close. Her fiery eyes and multilayered heart is expressing her passion for good. Her outfit is a hidden warrior (with shoulder pads). Her mouth defined every time someone should have said and did not, for those who did not defend the one who still couldn’t do it. In one moment, all the unspoken obligated silence comes out together being liberated and freeing all women through the emotion it brings out in them to stand up, stand firm, and keep doing whatever you are doing, as long as it comes from a position of love. They may call it “aggressive” but all women know where we are coming from.
